Crystal Collapse’s core mechanics focus around hero actions.โ€‚Movement as we’ve already covered is one specific action with its own separate allocation in a turn.โ€‚In addition to moving, heroes may also perform 1 additional action from the following standard actions listed below.

Move – I know I’ve just said it has its own allocation, but you can also use your second action for a second round of movement!โ€‚very handy if you need to cover some ground to get to an objective quickly!

Climb – you can move up a single elevation for free with each square of movement but if you want to scale a vertical surface of 2 or more elevations, you can do this by using a climb action, placing your hero at the top of the elevation.โ€‚Handy if you don’t fancy taking the long way round!

Draw a Card – is your hand running a little low?โ€‚want to execute a hero’s Active ability but need an extra/better card?โ€‚Sacrifice a hero’s action to draw a card to your hand instead! Especially handy if you have a character who just isn’t in a position to use an action effectively.โ€‚Just remember that at the end of the turn any excess cards you have will need to be discarded so be sure to use them!

Quest Action – Some quests have specific actions that they require you to perform – if there’s a quest action on your chosen quest you can do that as described in the quest.โ€‚

Use an Active Ability – We’ve already covered this here, but basically you pay the card fee to activate the ability and then carry it out as described.โ€‚Simple!

Attack – This action is the most complicated choice (but still quite simple) as it comes with a sequence that you must follow.โ€‚Pick your target, make sure they’re an eligible target for your attack, then play a card from your hand (if you want to).โ€‚Add this card’s value to your attack value, along with any fate cards or modifiers (such as from passive abilities etc) to the score.โ€‚

Your target also draws a card (if they want to) plus any fate cards they are eligible to use, and add the value of their cards to the defence value from their profile.โ€‚Their final defence value is deducted from your attack value.โ€‚

Figure out your dice pool (the base value is listed on your profile but again it can be modified in a number of ways).โ€‚Then simply roll the correct number of D20 Dice and you want to score equal to or under your modified attack value.โ€‚If you roll the EXACT number that you need then you score a critical hit!

See!โ€‚It wasn’t that difficult after all!
