We hope you all had a brilliant Easter weekend and that you’re not suffering too much from a heroic overindulgence in chocolate (we know we are).
More importantly, THANK YOU for helping us reach our first major campaign milestone — 100 backers! 🎉 Your support means the world to us, and we’re so grateful to have such an engaged and enthusiastic community behind this project.
❗ Funding Assurance – Please Stick With Us
We’ve noticed quite a few cancelled pledges over the past week, and we want to take a moment to reassure everyone:
If we hit our £25,000 funding goal, this game will be made. No smoke, no mirrors — just honest budgeting and a lot of hard graft. It might not be the massive-scale launch we dreamed of, but it will absolutely be a complete, high-quality product we’re proud to deliver.
If you’re on the fence or worried about the campaign falling short, we ask you to please stick with us a little longer. If the project doesn’t fund, you won’t be charged anyway — so there’s nothing to lose and everything to gain by holding on.
Fun fact: If we re-added every cancelled pledge, we’d already be funded!
👑 New Unlock: The Hobbe King
To celebrate hitting 100 backers, we’re unlocking the Hobbe King – a fearsome brute who commands his minions with iron fists (and probably a lot of shouting).
He’s the perfect new threat for Solo Mode, but don’t worry PvP players — he’s just as effective in co-op or standard multiplayer games too. Expect his minions to rally to his side and bring an exciting new layer of strategy and danger to your battles.
But that’s not all…
Heres another picture of the Hobbe King on my painting desk so you can see the actual miniature! You can also see a few other heroes in the background which helps to show his size!
🧙♂️ Solo Gets Bigger: Hero Enemies Incoming
We’re enhancing Solo Mode even further by developing solo-compatible profiles for our hero characters. This means your solo opposition teams will soon include heroes too, not just monsters. More variety, more challenge, more reasons to dive back in again and again.
We’ll reveal more details on how this works in an upcoming update — stay tuned!

Remember, this isn’t just a one-and-done boxed game. Crystal Collapse is your entry point into a rich, ever-expanding skirmish wargame universe.
We have years of content planned, including new heroes, factions, quests, and game modes. Some will launch through future campaigns, others straight to our store. So if you’re craving a steady, manageable hobby fix — this is it!
🔨 Hobby Corner – Dan’s Game Board Progress
As for my own hobby progress — inspired by the fantastic board build by Dave over at MS Paints, I’ve been cracking on with my own JRPG-style board. I originally made this about 18 months ago so I could take it to Chillcon ahead of our initial launch, but I just never got around to finishing it off. Here’s a pic of it from one of our recent game nights in its dull and unfinished state (don’t get me wrong it was great to play on but didn’t give me that JRPG vibe I wanted) >
The board itself is cut from 20mm XPS foam, with cliffs carved in using a scalpel. After some dull flock, I gave it a blast of Vallejo Livery Green with the airbrush to get that lush anime fantasy feel, and added some crystals and painted rocks to round it out.
Still a work in progress, but it’s already making the games look and feel so much more immersive.
I’ve got tree trunks printed and more mine tracks ready to paint, and the tree canopies are on the printer to be added.
If you’re into hobby building, I wholeheartedly recommend diving into your own scenic setups – it’s incredibly rewarding.
